Child safety standards
Join aboutUss.in free - chat with businesses and get their dealsLast updated: 23 October 2026
aboutUss.in has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), including child sexual abuse material (CSAM), grooming, sextortion, trafficking or any sexualisation of minors. This page explains our standards and what we do.
1. What is not allowed
- Any content, message, photo or link that sexualises, exploits or endangers a child (anyone under 18).
- Contacting, grooming or soliciting a child for sexual purposes, or arranging to meet a child for such purposes.
- Sharing, requesting, selling or linking to CSAM in any form.
- Business listings, deals or ads that involve the exploitation or trafficking of children.
2. How the app is designed to protect young people
- Users must be at least 13 years old to register; the date of birth is checked at sign-up.
- Posts are visible only to a user's confirmed neighbours (people both sides accepted), and can be limited further to Family or Friends.
- Chat is only possible between confirmed neighbours, or with a business that accepted the user's request. Strangers cannot message a user.
- A user's mobile number and email are never shown to other users.
- Any user can be blocked; a block hides both people from each other everywhere.
3. How to report
- In the app: tap ⋯ on any post, comment, chat message or profile and choose Report (reason: "Nudity or sexual content" or "Abuse, harassment or hate"). Reports go straight to our moderation team.
- By email: support@aboutuss.in - write "Child safety" in the subject.
4. What we do with reports
- Every child-safety report is reviewed by the aboutUss.in team as a priority, as soon as possible and within 24 hours.
- Content that breaks these standards is removed and the account is suspended immediately and permanently.
- We report apparent CSAM and child exploitation to the authorities as required by law - in India to the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal (cybercrime.gov.in) and the police, and where applicable to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC). We preserve the relevant information for law enforcement.
- We cooperate fully with law-enforcement requests.
5. Laws we comply with
aboutUss.in complies with applicable child-safety laws, including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the IT Rules, 2021 of India, and Google Play's Child Safety Standards policy.
